Get to Know Judge Davis

Clayton Davis is a graduate of Centenary College in Shreveport and Southern Methodist University School of Law in Dallas. He was admitted to both the Louisiana and Texas bar associations. 


Judge Davis practiced law as a trial attorney for 27 years specializing in personal injury, environmental law, and insurance litigation. He was elected in 2008 to the 14th Judicial District Court, Calcasieu Parish, and has been re-elected twice without opposition.


He is a member of the Louisiana Supreme Court’s Technology Commission per appointment of the Louisiana Supreme Court. He worked to write revisions to the procedural rules to allow email service of court notices, a change that has made court procedures vastly more efficient. He is the current Chairman of the Technology Committee of the Louisiana District Judges Assoc.


He is a former member of the Louisiana State Board of Ethics, Louisiana State Mineral Board and the Lake Charles Police and Fireman’s Civil Service Board. He also was elected to the Republican State Central Committee in the 1990s and was elected Treasurer of the State Republican Party at his first meeting. He then served on the Executive Committee for 2 years.


Clayton is married to Geralyn, his wife of 44 years, and they have one daughter, Amanda Pousson, a pre-K teacher. Amanda and her husband, Aaron Pousson, have two daughters, Charlotte and Camille.


Clayton has been a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd since he arrived in Lake Charles and currently serves on its board (Vestry) and finance committee.
